The
Rick Ray Band
has done
themselves proud on their cd ‘Night
of the Living Dedicated’. Rick Ray is known for his
superb guitar musicianship, and he certainly doesn’t slack off
anywhere on this whole cd. Otherwise, Rick lives up to his own
reputation. But he is not the only extraordinary musician on this
cd; all musicianship is of the highest caliber. It’s all in the
right places, at the right time with the right taste.
The first
thing that caught my attention was that the whole cd had a touch of Jimi
Hendrixx sounds, I even caught a lick or two that I thought was Hendrixx
but knew it wasn’t. This was so amazing! I would recommend this cd very
highly to any rock/hard rock music lover. Every single song has something
to hold your attention and furthermore will give you even more reason to
play it over and over. Cant keep from lovin’ it. And keep this in mind,
Rick
Ray can play the blues and he can play
rock music – so this only proves to me that he can play and do anything or
any song he wants. This is the benefits of having the love of the music
and the extraordinary talent that he possesses and as with the musicians
behind him.
And just who are
these exceptional musicians? They are: Rick Ray - guitars,
keyboards and vocals…..Rick Schultz - Reeds…..Gary
Wood -bass and vocals…..Sam Glorioso - drums…..Phil
Noch – vocals. While on the subject of these musicians, talk about
what they give us in their instruments. We have
Rick Ray
giving us the hard driven, screaming turbo speed axe-tion. And with that
comes the strong vibrant vocals he possesses, but lets not forget the
vocals of Phil Noch, Gary Wood and Rick Schultz, which are just as
strong, vibrant and all are carrying diversified ranges in their vocals.
The rhythm section of this band is a combination of the best
bassist/drummer/keyboards and reeds, they are consistent, solid, in the
pocket and capable of producing crisp clear sounds.
The best
virtue an artist/musician/band/songwriter can have is to convey an message
through their music like The Rick Ray Band has accomplished with this cd
and others. There is something for every listener, every fan. With the
strength in each and every instrument allows you the listener to hear and
feel the music. You can’t keep from tasting the music of The Rick Ray
Band’s ‘Night of the Living Dedicated’ CD.
Each track
is worth mentioning here, but the attention getters are: Track #1 ‘It’s
Time’ – excellent opener for this turbo driven cd….. Track #4 ‘Containment’
– this has some magnificent axe-tion in the beginning, the kind that just
melts your heart and soul, exceptional vocals and lyrics. Superb song!!……
Track #6 ‘Day of the Watchmen’ – this tune I found to have moments
of Hendrix sounds. So very good!!
